Designing the hero

This entire film revolves around a piece of technology that doesn't exist: a science-fictional piece of consumer electronics, the FABRICATOR. The first step to creating this crucial prop, central to the film, was to come up with a design. So for the past few months I've been pretending to be an industrial designer, cranking out sketches and drawings... but never nailing it. After months of trying to DIY the thing, I resorted to asking an actual product designer. Voila -- based on my brief he's come up with some terrific concepts (in less than a week!). What's your favorite? (He's already working on refinements, to be posted soon.)
